One of the most important things we should be focused on when it comes to our overall health is building up a strong immune system! which aides in helping our bodies to fight off illness. Especially during Cold & Flu Season.

The Immune system is an interactive environment that protect the body from viruses and bacteria or any unwanted substances. Addressing an nutritional deficiency is how to boost your immune system.

Importantly should be the removing of foods and ingredients that harm our bodies, healthier eating and drinking water. Including powerful herbs and natural super foods that will help to boost your Immune System.

As I am trying to become more self aware and conscious of the products I am using daily and purchasing for me and my family, I have been researching natural body washes and all kinds of skin care products and I want to list what I found. I know It can be very difficult to find the right products that work for every different person as for every skin is different.
I feel it’s crucial to make sure that we aren’t rubbing so many harmful chemicals into our body’s largest organ. Below, I’m sharing some info of the top ingredients to try to avoid in skin care products if you can.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

I listed this one first because it’s the most common, and it can be a challenge to find products without it. Even certain products that are marketed as “natural” can contain this compound, which is why it’s so important to read and understand labels before purchasing. It technically is natural, and most often comes from palm oil, which is one of the major culprits of destruction in the Amazon, for one. But also, its main purpose is not for the health of our skin, but just to create an attractive foam for the senses. It’s also one of the most irritating agents on the skin and a major culprit of dryness and dermatitis.

Fragrance

If you ever see the word “fragrance” being listed as an ingredient is that it is never one single ingredient. while it might be possible to find one that is organic, Fragrance is typically derived from a laundry list of ingredients on its own, all of which don’t have to be disclosed are may be incredibly toxic and not intended for use on or in the body in any way. Plus, they are often kept stable with the use of phthalates. The US Department of Health and Human Services as well as the EPA have labeled phthalates as possible carcinogens. Hard pass.

Petroleum (and Mineral Oil)

This one is crazy famous! While I wish we didn’t have to state the obvious, revisit the fact that mineral oil, while sounding natural and healthy, is a by-product of gasoline. Why, WHY would any company that caters to beauty or skincare dare to put such a thing in their products? Well for one, it’s really cheap. It’s also colorless and odorless, and has a shelf life of eternity. However, it literally suffocates your skin and hair, (just a heads up, plastic is made with petroleum). While this traps moisture, it also traps dirt, dead skin, and bacteria. Petroleum offers the facade of soothing moisture, while doing absolutely nothing whatsoever to nourish your skin. Beware that labels can trick you by listing it under another name—keep an eye out for paraffin, mineral oil, butylene glycol, petrolatum, and isopropyl alcohol. This is crazy and it truly sucks.

DEA, MEA, and TEA

DEA, MEA, and TEA These atrocious acronyms are serious trouble. They stand for diethanolamine, monoethanolamine, and triethanolamine, and they are top hormone disruptors. This means while they may not manifest themselves immediately as a breakout or skin irritation (though they can and often do), they are very easily absorbed into the body through the skin, accumulate in our organs, and don’t detoxify quickly, wreaking havoc on other systems. They are also highly reactive to other common cosmetic ingredients, and when combined with some of them, these DEAs, MEAs, and TEAs transform into a very potent carcinogen called nitrosodiethanolamine, also known as NDEA.

So, while this might be a lot to read, due to the large amounts of different products out now a days, it is worth to be aware and informed. And try the effort to keep a look out to what might be possibly affecting our health in any way.

If we can make a difference in the world by not purchasing these harmful products we are making a great impact. Remember the simpler the ingredients the better, preferably Organic with real ingredients you can understand.

I wanted to give you the easiest possible cough syrup remedy to grab when you need help with a cough, especially during this crazy flu and allergy season. This recipe is one I have tried personally with my family and has helped. It’s made with all-natural ingredients that provides cough relief – and it’s all natural ingredients too!


🍍Why is pineapple one of the best ingredients in a homemade cough remedy?

It also supports your overall wellness:

It’s high in vitamin C.

It’s a good source of calcium and magnesium.

It’s rich in the anti-inflammatory enzyme bromelain.

Research has shown it’s amazingly effective as a cough remedy.

It also tastes delicious – so it’s much easier to get your kids to drink it!

I know not everyone likes pineapples, if that’s the case, you can try the recipe below without it.


HOMEMADE COUGH SYRUP

Ingredients-
1 cup pineapple juice or blend slices

2 tbsp honey

1/4 cup lemon juice

pinch of cayenne pepper and ground ginger

Organic Coconut Oil

Blend ingredients together

Notes : Other great ingredients you can add with this cough syrup to turn it into a stronger boost drink if needed are garlic, arugula, basil, with organic orange juice. While these ingredients are an ultra boost for the immune system the little ones might not like the taste so I advise to just give a tea spoon if needed for a cough. Store in a glass bottle or mason jar.

Take 1-3 tablespoons as needed to soothe a cough, cold or sore throat.

Try some homemade throat soothing Popsicle! Just grab a nice set of Popsicle molds, pour in your juice, and there you go!

Remember to Stay hydrated! Drink water, Give your body time to heal, rest, try your best to not add stress to your heart. ❤
